Well done to all the children in Rawe that played at rugby park today! Here are the two u8 teams that played each other.

Week 10
In Maths this week we are learning about the capacity of containers so we know "how much fits inside" . We are then ordering these from those that hold the most to those that hold the least.
We continue to practise our X factor skills and are having fun managing ourselves while we do this.
It's great to see everyone with nice warm clothing as they come to school each day, as it is pretty chilly on these frosty days!
We are using our bucket filling skills to make others feel happy by using kind words, making sure they have a friend to play with and by caring for them when they hurt themselves.

Week 9
We are enjoying working on some new action stations this week. One of the new action stations has a challenge. We have to build a tall tower out of newspaper and Sellotape, it was fun working together.
This week we are excited to have Harold the giraffe visiting. We are learning about empathy so that we can talk about our feelings. We are practising this in class by being 'bucket fillers'. Bucket fillers are helpful, kind, smile at others and use kind words.
In maths this week we are measuring with scales we are finding out that sometimes small things weigh a lot and big things can weigh less!
If you come into the class you might see a lot of drumming, dancing or juggling as we practice for X Factor. We are using whakapai ake so that we persist and keep going even when we find it challenging.

Technology
Today we presented our chrome book storage ideas. We thought carefully about what went well, and what we would like to change next time. We are getting very good at reflecting.

Week 8
We have been learning about Technology in Rawe. We have been using book creator to make an e-book about our creation. We are trying to store the chromebooks safely. When we had a problem we had a think about how we could solve it ourselves, then we asked a buddy and they helped us. If that didn't work then we looked at our plan to see if that would help. If we tried all of those things and it didn't work then we asked the teacher.
It was important to stick to the plan. The noise level was much better this week because we kept trying to get a little bit better each day.
When we have been working on our technology plan, we have been learning each day that we are getting better at fixing problems, and finding new ways to solve them.
During maths we have been learning about volume. Volume is how much something can hold. We tried to make the cone with the biggest volume.
Our poem this week is If I saw... it is about lots of silly things that we could see. Our big book is Springtime Rock n Roll. This book makes us feel happy and excited and like we need to dance!
Have a great week! From Rawe

Weighing
Today we have been comparing the weights of different objects. We have been estimating how much things weigh and getting a little better with each try.

Week 7
Over the last week we have been looking at the technology process. The problem that we need to solve is that the chromebooks are not stored safely or neatly. We are working in groups to come up with a plan to solve the problem.
Some things that have gone really well are:
We've learned that we have to make holes for cables
Practicing getting better at things every day (Whakapai Ake)
When we're in a group it's VERY important to show Managing Self otherwise it's not fair on the team.
We've come up with lots of different ways to solve problems, like having the chargers on the side.
Some problems we have come across so far are:
Not everyone is taking turns
The chromebooks didn't fit in the storage that we made
Our designs weren't safe
People aren't using a 'working voice' (it's too noisy)
The holes were hard to make
We will keep working on getting better at these things.
Some groups need the following things:
Cardboard
Lego
Wood
String
Hammer
Nails
Shoe boxes
Newspaper
Paper
Plastic
If you have any of these things that you could bring for Rawe we would love it!
