Week 9

Welcome to the last week of the term! It's hard to believe that Easter Bunny will be visiting us this week. The children are pleased to have swimming on Tuesday and our Swimming Sports on Wednesday.
The children are busy writing stories about when they saw Easter Bunny and describing what he looked like.
Some children will be getting a bag of books to read over the holidays. It makes a big difference if they do a little reading most days.
As it is a short week this week we will NOT be doing any spelling testing this week.
We hop you have an egg sellent week!

Problem Solving

Here we are practising the paper, rocks scissors game so that we can use this strategy when two or more people want the same thing.

Getting ready for Easter

We are all making Easter Bunny ears so that we are ready for his visit on Easter Sunday. We all hopped up to do this task very quickly!

Week 8

Welcome to the second last week of the term! We continue to work on our maths strategies and all the children are producing a 'Show Me' to explain what strategy they are working on. Basic Facts flash cards are continuing to go well and lots of children moving onto their next set.
Miro are very excited as they are taking assembly this week. The children have their script glued into their homework book. We look forward to seeing you there.

Week 7

Wow what an exciting week we have been having! On Monday we had John Parsons visit us and talk to us about internet safety and today we had Ronald McDonald talk to us about road safety.
We have another busy swimming week with swimming Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. It is really helpful when parents pick up their children at the pool that they let the teachers who are at the pool know when they are leaving.
It is great to see how many children are passing their maths flash cards. It's that little and often practice that works so well.

Making a Show Me

These boys are using the Show Me app on the iPads to explain the maths strategy they have been using.

Road Safety

Today Ronald McDonald came to talk to the junior school about road safety. He reminded us to 'make it click' and to walk sensibly on the house side of the footpath. If we come across a sneaky driveway or a pedestrian crossing we need to stop, look, and listen.

Inquiry action station

These girls are creating emotions from play dough for the inquiry action station

Solo in action!

These children in the squares maths group marked themselves as 'multi structural' when counting on from the biggest number. It means you can use materials to solve the problem by yourself. Their next step will be to move to the relational level where they will solve word problems by imaging.

Week 5

This week we are so excited about athletics. Here are Tahi writing about how they might feel at the Southern Zone athletics day. Rata are very excited because they are on assembly this week! Some will get to share their emotion poems that they have published.

The children have been very good at remembering their flashcards days, and it has been a lot easier spreading out the testing over the week. If you're not sure what day you're on, it's written in the front of the homework books. This day is only for flashcards as everybody's spelling gets tested on a Friday.
