Week 4

With all this wonderful hot weather we are having the children need to drink quite a lot, this makes drink bottles at school a real essential.
The children are working hard to get their first blog posts of the year completed and most have achieved this already!
We have begun our basic facts testing this week and will be marking off wether they have passed this week on not in the back of their homework, so it is really important for them to bring their homework book to school each day.
We look forward to catching up with many of you at the Goal Setting interviews this week.

Welcome to Week 3

A big thank you to Paula Stewart for organising such great athletics day and to all the wonderful parent helpers who gave up their time to come and help on the day. We really appreciate all the hard work. The children really enjoyed practising all their running, jumping and throwing skills on the big track.
You will find a set of maths flash cards in a pocket in your child's Homework book. As we have a short week this week we will begin flash card testing next week. This allows everyone plenty of time to practice these at home as well as at school.
Thanks Matt Murray for supplying these great photos.

Welcome to Week 2

What a fantastic start to the year we are having in Rawe. The children are all settling into the routines of the classroom very well. You will notice that the children had spelling words to learn for this week highlighted on their spelling sheet with the a 2 beside them. If they have other words that are highlighted but have no 2 beside them they are for reviewing in future weeks. At the beginning of a new year it is common to be repeating words on lists that the children have already passed, it just means that their recall of these words was not secure and they need to review them. We will continue to repeat spelling lists during the year to help with their recall of these words. We will be giving children word lists this week to take home if they are needed and again you might find your child on a word list that they have previously passed. A short review of these word lists is always helpful to increase fluency in reading.
Have a great week.
