Week 6
What an exciting week we are having this week. We had Alli McKenzie come and watch a PE session on Monday. Several children went to Polyfest on Tuesday to perform kapa haka and they had a great time and did a wonderful performance. We have been practising our class dances ready for another session with the choreographer on Friday. So it's all go!
The children have been enrolled for a programme called Reading Eggs for a trail period of 4 weeks. They are able to use this at home too. They have a copy of their passwords in their homework books so feel free to make the most of this limited time resource.
As we get closer to performing in the school production our times for assessments will be changing. We are now going to be doing flash card and spelling testing at flexible times within the changing timetable. So a very big THANK YOU to all the wonderful parent helpers who have generously given up their time on a Friday to help with our homework testing. Your help has really been appreciated.

Is it a fish?
We have been learning about the features of a fish. The children went on to sort sea creatures into two sets based on wether the creatures had the attributes of a fish or not. Madeleine said hers was not a fish because it didn't have gills to breathe under water.
Brain Food
The children really enjoyed eating their brain food today. You can see all the yummy healthy food choices they are making.

Week 5
This week we are having fun making sea creatures with salt dough again. It has been great for the children to work on improving their modelling skills.
Even though the weather is getting warmer we still have quite a few children with coughs and colds and so we are using a lot of tissues. We would appreciate if you could send some along. On a similar note if you have any stationary, especially whiteboard pens still at home we would love to have these for use in the classroom too.
We have started having brain food breaks in the mornings before morning tea. Suitable food to send along for the children to eat include fruit and vegetables.

Our Industrious Classroom
Harvey is practising spelling on the window. Hailey is using a chrome book to do some math's on Maths -Whizz. The group of children on the mat are making a diorama to show a sea creatures habitat.
Week 4
It was a shame that Moffett Cup was postponed for our year 3's due to the wet weather. We are hoping that it is all go for Friday. Our grounds are very wet and muddy and we love the children being able to still use our field. Please help us by making sure that they have a spare set of clothes to change into. This will help them to stay warm and to keep our classroom clean.

Week Three
We began our formal interviews yesterday. It's a great time to discuss strengths and next learning steps. Please remember that we will always make time through the term to meet with you formally or informally. This week the children are continuing to learn about the elements of dance. They are really keen and are enjoying it. We are fascinated as we wonder and discover new facts about sea creatures. In maths we are learning about measurement. This week we were really excited to get ten chrome books for Rawe.
